What exactly is involved in skin aging?

In young skin, collagen fibres are bound together by elastin to form a glycan network which can hold up to one thousand times its own weight in water. This water-saturated 'net' is what gives skin its elasticity.

As skin ages, however, collagen production slows and the bonds are damaged beyond the body's ability to repair them. This causesd the glycan network to thin and lose its ability to retain water, until it begins to collapse on itself.

Scientists have found that applying PP-4 to the skin over a two-month period resulted in:
