In celebration of the upcoming launch of Competition Gold - the new Fresh Indulgence competition tanning formula - we would like to share some interesting research with you. A very recent study by Nelson, Kokkonen & Mickenberg has demonstrated that exposure to dim lighting reduces muscle strength and endurance. This has implications not only for the training programme of athletes and bodybuilders, but also for those participating in compeitions in terms of the lighting conditons of the preparation area. Even a very brief exposure to dim lighting was sufficient to blunt the endurance of athletes. It has been known for many years (Asmussen & Mazin, 1978) that weight repititons performed with eyes closed results in 20-40% fewer reps than with eyes open. According to Menno Henselmans of Beyesian Bodybuilding, this has more to do with disruption of your circadian rhythm, than short-term exposure to dim lighting per se. We have previously discussed this topic with respect to UV exposure from artificial lighting here. Coming soon: Our new formula is currently being trialled in Spain and the United States, ready to launch in November 2015. We recommend the new Aura Allure for its professional application.
